Webb11 dec. 2015 · Hi everyone. I bought an '88 Wrangler Sahara (6 cyl) a little less than a year ago. Still new to the Wrangler experience, but loving it. I had to have the engine rebuilt (original engine). After it was installed, it was burning oil, about 2 quarts after 500 miles. So, my mechanic removed it, replaced the rings, but its still burning oil. Webb19 aug. 2006 · Keep in mind this is just 4000 miles after they rebuilt it and 2500 miles since the last oil change. Turns out it was about 1 to 1.5 quarts low. They guy at the shop said that rebuilt engines always use a little oil. He said it's normal for them to use 1 quart every 1000 miles, but that his engines only use 1 quart every 3000 miles.

Webb29 aug. 2024 · First and foremost, check for blowby oil like mentioned above. If there is some and you invest in a AOS, give it about a thousand miles and all of the blow by should be cleaned up.
